About me
Catherine Campbell, PhD, MPH, is Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist of Community Food Systems in the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences at University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). She conducts social science research focused on human motivation and behavior, particularly as it relates to how individuals and communities interact with their food environment and issues at the intersection of food systems and public health. Her social science research program examines the descriptive and normative dimensions of food systems and identify the individual and contextual factors that affect the behavior, motivation, and decision making of food systems stakeholders—e.g., policy makers, farmers, and consumers—to support a more sustainable and resilient food system. Her current projects are focused on urban agriculture, food waste, cellular agriculture, and institutional procurement of local foods.
