About me
Zack Hayden is an agricultural systems scientist with a background in soil health and efficient nutrient use for sustainable vegetable production. At Michigan State University, his doctoral and postdoctoral research and outreach programs included investigations of precision management of cover crops, tillage, water, and nutrients (particularly nitrogen) in a diversity of cropping systems. He is interested in research and development policy, as well as diverse approaches to improving the productivity and environmental footprint of agricultural production at multiple scales, under both conventional and organic management. Zack earned a B.S. in biology and environmental science from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and his Ph.D. in horticulture from Michigan State.
